William, “Bill”, Swets is the executive vice president of sales and operations at CORT. Bill has served in various roles over the years, in both operations and sales. Bill was the driving force behind the creation of Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP) for the company and served as the first BDP Champion. Bill most recently served as group vice president, where he was responsible for the sales of thirteen districts. Bill is a founding board member of the Corporate Housing Providers Association (CHPA) and also serves as a board member for the International Furniture Rental Association (IFRA). Throughout his career Bill has been focused on improving the customer experience. He has made it a focus to stay in front of his customers both external and internal to ensure CORT understands their needs and is providing the best level of service possible. He often has challenged the way things are done to provide better and more impactful results for both the company and its customers.
Prior to CORT, Bill was president and co-founder of Instant Interiors Corporation, a furniture rental company that primarily rented residential furniture to apartments, corporations and individuals who needed temporary housing. Instant Interiors had 15 locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan, and employed approximately 150 people. The company was acquired by CORT Business Services in August 1998, and Bill became an influential member of the CORT team.
Bill and his wife Sally live in Holland, Michigan, and enjoy skiing, playing tennis, golf, traveling and spending time with their four children.
